1. INTRODUCTION

As one of the leading universities in training in the field of Information and Communication Technology, USTH continues to affirm our position with a double Bachelor’s degree program in cooperation with reputable French universities of the USTH Consortium.

Designed to ensure its selective focus and updating of scientific learning content as well as modern teaching methods, the program emphasizes the practice of critical thinking, self-learning, and practical skills. The Bachelor in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program focuses on applied research and new technologies under two majors, Software Technology and Computer Science. The ICT program equips students with the fundamental understanding of computing and system administration, then the professional knowledge of information systems, advanced databases and eventually management of projects.

Besides, the program aims to train students capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in an international environment; taking appropriate positions in the industry upon graduation and growing into leadership positions, and also pursuing scientific research or higher education.

The double bachelor’s program in Information and Communication Technology consists of 180 ECTS. In the first two years, students will study at USTH in English with the teaching by USTH lecturers (100% are Ph.D. holders). In the final year, they will transfer to our partner university to complete their study, the teaching language is French. Students can choose to study at one of the French universities: University of Limoges, University of La Rochelle. Upon graduation, students will be granted two degrees, one by USTH and one by their chosen French university.

The program is expected to bring more opportunities for Vietnamese students who are passionate about Information and Communication Technology and would like to pursue their studies in France, helping them to have better preparation for future careers in a dynamic and international learning environment in Vietnam and France.

Designed to ensure its selective focus and updating of scientific learning content as well as modern teaching methods, the program emphasizes the practice of critical thinking, self-learning, and practical skills. It provides the foundation knowledge of chemical science, and its current and future applications such as energy conversion and storage (Li-ion batteries, solar cells, fuel cells, and artificial leaves), smart materials (biodegradable polymers, targeted drugs), environmental analysis, and treatment, development of functional foods, cosmetics, spices, etc. Specifically, the program focuses on equipping students with the ability to access, practice, and exploit the most modern analytical equipment currently used in research, technology development, and industrial production in Vietnam.

The Faculty of Science (responsible for the double Bachelor‘s degree program in Chemistry) has a rich history dating from the early 20th century. Currently, the faculty has about 11,000 students,  1.200 lecturers, researchers, and administrative staff.

4.2. University Paris Est – Créteil (UPEC)

Established in 1970, Université Paris Est Créteil (known as Paris 12) is one of the largest multidisciplinary public universities in the Île-de-France region and a leading reputation in France. UPEC currently has 32,000 students studying at 16 faculties, research institutes, and schools on 16 campuses.

In addition, UPEC also owns 33 modern laboratories, 9 of which belong to the Faculty of Science and Technology, which is in charge of the double degree program in Chemistry. 4.3. University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA): 

Established in 1967,  the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA) is the only public university in the city. Currently, URCA has nearly 29,000 students in 5 campuses, nearly 2,500 lecturers, researchers and administrative staff, and 32 research groups. Chemistry belongs to URCA’s Faculty of Science which has the longest history with lots of achievements in teaching and research.

1. GENERAL PROGRAMS

Currently, biomedical technologists are highly and urgently requested in all public health care facilities in Vietnam. Therefore, the Medical Science and Technology (MST) Bachelor Program at USTH will fill the human resource demand in terms of highly qualified biomedical scientists and technologists. The advanced MST program consists of two educational orientations: “Biomedical Sciences” and “Biomedical Engineering”.  Graduates will be technologists, experts, and product developers in the biomedical field, who are able to research and develop optimal biomedical science solutions in detecting and treating diseases or integrating knowledge of biological principles, biomedical engineering, biomedical electronics, regenerative medicine, computer science, and artificial intelligence for research – development of rehabilitation products, biomedical instruments, and devices to support the diagnosis, treatment, care, improvement, and protection of human health. The training program following the standard European system (LMD) will last 3 academic years, including 6 semesters, 180 ECTS, and 4-6 months of internship in clinical/research laboratories.

2. PROGRAM CURRICULUM

II.1. Biomedical Sciences

A/ Educational Contents and Objectives

Biomedical science (BMS) is to understand the fundamental process of life, study the human body, its structure and function in human health and diseases, and apply this knowledge to many aspects of medicine. The goal of this training program is to provide students with knowledge on mechanisms and factors associated with human diseases towards diagnosis, detection, and treatment of those diseases. The focus will be on understanding human health, from molecular to organismal systems: how cells, organs, and systems function in the human body in healthy and diseased states. The BMS educational orientation mainly deals with the facts, theories, and models describing biological and clinical phenomena. Core course clusters include cell biology, immunology, hematology, biochemistry, physiology, molecular biology, medical microbiology, cancer biology, stem cells, molecular markers, and molecular medicine. The knowledge will equip students to work in areas that contribute to the development of new therapies and approaches aimed at improving human health.

B/ Outcomes and skills: Students following the biomedical sciences are expected to
  • Integrate the knowledge base of various key subjects to understand the pathogenesis and origins of disease processes, how they affect the standard structure and functions of the human body, and why and how health is maintained;
  • Have a basic understanding of the investigation, diagnosis, prevention, approaches to treatment, and monitoring of disease, as well as developing products being made possible by biomedical research;
  • Explain biomedical sciences phenomena at a variety of levels (from molecule to cell to organ and system function) in the human body in health and disease;
  • Have practical techniques and professional skills relevant to the biomedical sciences;
  • Aware of the current laboratory methods available for the investigation, detection, and treatment of specific diseases as well as integrating the knowledge and understanding of various therapeutic strategies for the development and evaluation of new methods applicable to diseased states;
  • Have ethical and professional responsibilities in technical situations;
  • Work successfully as a member of a professional team and function effectively as responsible professionals in biomedical sciences

The levels of learning outcomes are evaluated as the following:

  • Level 2: Understand – Explain
  • Level 3: Apply – Analyze
  • Level 4: Design, Develop, Create and Evaluate
C/ Career opportunities:

After graduation, students have the opportunity to work for research and development of biomedical products in health-related industries (medical biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, drug development) as well as work in clinical, biomedical, genetics and forensic laboratories, biomedical research institutes/universities; business, be specialists in public health services; consultants in biomedical policy-making organizations, managers/consultants in biomedical companies, NGO or intellectual law companies in the biomedical field; or pursue graduate study programs in biomedical sciences.

 II.2. Biomedical Engineering

A/ Educational Contents and Objectives

Biomedical engineering (BME) aims to improve human health and healthcare systems through the application of the latest innovative technologies. The development of very high-technology medical instrumentations and devices such as defibrillators, endoscopic instrumentations, medical imaging technologies (PET/CT, MRI, scanners, ultrasound), robotics, and automation, are essential for the diagnosis, treatment, management of diseases, and rehabilitation, to avoid danger and improve the efficiency of medical treatments. Therefore, the BME training orientation focuses on providing students with broad and flexible subjects in engineering and biological science applied in biomedical instruments and systems. The BME broadly refers to the same mathematical, analytical, and conceptual knowledge from related fields (Biology, Physic, Chemistry, Electronics, Robotics, Material Science, Signal and Image Processing, and Computer Science). The students are prepared to analyze, synthesize, and link knowledge in the multi-disciplinary fields, with an emphasis on quantitative approaches and methods. Finally, the students will be an integral part of society to improve the understanding and control of biological processes towards improving human health.

B/ Outcomes and skills: Students following biomedical engineering are expected to
  • Have the professional skills to work on high-tech biomedical instruments;
  • Have professional knowledge in fields: medical instrumentations and devices, medical image technology, biomedical signal and image processing, biomechanics, biomaterials and bionanotechnology, AI in medicine and rehabilitation engineering;
  • Repair, maintain, improve and develop biomedical instrumentations and devices which are commonly used in hospitals, clinics and medical research centres;
  • Integrate the knowledge of both biological processes and engineering, allowing them to make positive contributions in biomedical industries and/or other sectors;
  • Lead the industry in biomedical imaging and signal processing, medical devices and rehabilitation, AI and machine learning in medicine or patient-specific treatments based high-tech medical tools;
  • Have ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations;
  • Work successfully as a member of a professional team and function effectively as responsible professionals.

The levels of learning outcomes are evaluated as the following:

  • Level 2: Formulate the process to solve the technical problems
  • Level 3: Apply engineering design to produce solutions and technical improvements

C/ Career opportunities: students have the opportunity to access careers in the research and development areas of biomedical instrumentations and devices; repair, maintenance, consultancy, and management at enterprises, factories, and biomedical research institutes; or pursue master’s and doctoral programs in BME.

1. GENERAL PROGRAMS: 
  • Food Science and Technology (FST) is in high demand in the agriculture, light industry, and health care sectors in Vietnam. The recent statistics alarmingly show that hundreds of industrial zones in 5 big cities and 58 provinces need thousands of relevant technologists per year.
  • The establishment of the FST Program at USTH will contribute to filling this gap in highly qualified human resources of the domain. The program will provide scientific knowledge and practical skills in relevant fundamental sciences in order to develop modern procedures, and specific applications for Vietnamese agricultural products as well as to control food quality and safety.
  • The academic curriculum of the FST program at USTH provides an innovative approach and introduces cutting-edge food technologies. The program is specifically designed and well adapted for value-adding technologies of Vietnamese agricultural products. In addition, various practical courses help to sharpen students’ skills to be technically and socially competent in the food industry.

2. PROGRAM CURRICULUM

  • The Food Science and Technology Program provides students with three options:
    • Food processing technology
    • Food safety and quality
    • Food innovation management
  • Each option includes a “core curriculum”, consisting of courses in food science and technology, and a group of additional/optional courses that focuses on providing more specific knowledge in the student’s chosen area.

4. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates can pursue professional jobs or continue to the master’s program at USTH or at any of the postgraduate courses offered in the Food Science and Technology fields.

1. PROGRAM MISSION

The training program in Space Science and Satellite Technology – Department of Space and Aeronautics is a unique educational structure in Vietnam for senior technicians and future scientists who can participate in the development of space science, space technology, and its applications in Vietnam. This program is designed for students with superior math, physic, and science skills and who have a strong interest in the space domain. The teaching contents are based both on theoretical and experimental (practical) approaches and are prepared and taught in conjunction with Foreign invited and Vietnamese professors, with a strong French input. All subjects are taught in English.

Besides, this training program also allows students to develop inter-disciplinary skills: English, French, project organization and management, personal development (scientific writing, communication, creativity and entrepreneurship, and team working skills). They are capable to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in an international environment; taking appropriate positions in the industry upon graduation and growing into leadership positions, and also pursuing scientific research or higher education.

2. PROGRAM CURRICULUM

The Bachelor curriculum – Science and Technology – is managed by USTH and follows strictly the Bologna process (3 years with 180 ECTS). The ECTS is based on the principle that 60 credits represent the workload of a full-time student in one academic year. The student workload of a full-time study program in Europe amounts in most cases to around 1500-1800 hours per year, therefore 1-credit is equivalent to 25-30 working hours (in class, practice, homework, assignment). The first 2-semesters constitute the foundation year, including the natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology), informatics and English courses.

From the second year, students will be provided with scientific/technological competencies and knowledge covering multiple domains, methodologies, and tools. Afterward, the significant subjects falling under the umbrella of Space science/technology and its applications comprise Earth Observation & Modeling, Astrophysics, and Satellite Technologies. The courses offered are the main building blocks of Space science and technology. Emphasis has also been given to research and applications-oriented areas: space mission design and analysis, satellite technology and control, space materials, astrophysics, GIS, remote sensing, etc. It uses new space-age technologies like satellite positioning, space data visualizations, analysis tools, and space data interpretation to greatly advance scientific understanding of Earth’s surface and its systems. About 30% of training time is devoted to practical work in disciplinary teaching modules. These modules may be based on studying industrial systems, projects and/or training periods.

3. PROGRAM OUTCOMES

These objectives are clearly reflected as below expected learning outcomes:

  • Solid professional knowledge to adapt to various jobs of researching theories, modeling ideas, designing and developing technology solutions, consulting and managing required systems in the field of Space and Applications.

 4. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

By the end of the program, graduates will have gained valuable professional knowledge allowing them to apply experimental and theoretical tools, either to pursue a Master’s degree at USTH or foreign institutions (Europe, Canada, USA, and Japan) or to adapt to the Vietnamese employment market. The job placements in space and applications-related areas have the strong characteristic of diversity and multi-disciplinary and contribute to all socio-economic activities of the country:

2. PROGRAM CURRICULUM

The PMAB curriculum equips a solid foundation in chemistry, biology, biotechnology, informatics, and communication. The program also builds a core of knowledge on biological sciences (Integrated physiology, Fundamental and advanced microbiology, Stem cell biology, Molecular biology, etc.) as well as provides all basic laboratory working skills. The other PMAB advanced courses aim to master techniques and knowledge in engineered and applied biotechnology. To complete and open their background in biotechnological science, students will complete a “group project”, realize a 3 months internship, and will participate in elective courses.

1. PROGRAM MISSION

Automating the production line increases productivity and labor productivity, using robotic arms with precise control to support the surgical process in the medical field to minimize risks and shorten the operation time. Using spacecraft designed with optimal dynamics and intelligent control to help humans explore space, advanced technologies integrated into smartphones to help process high-quality images. , etc. All of these applications require a very high level of integration of advanced mechatronics technologies. It can be said that all concepts of smart devices (smart-phone, smart-home, smart-city, smart-grid, etc.) or the term “industrial revolution  4.0” are inseparable from the mechatronics concept.

Mechatronics engineering technology is a broad field with a combination of electrical, electronics, mechanical and intelligent control algorithms. Each mechatronics application is an integration of all of the above sub-domains to perform activities with or without human control. Robotics, precision engineering, and automatic production lines are among the best examples of mechatronics technology applications.

The essential and increasing demands of the field of Mechatronics Technology require large human resources with in-depth knowledge and solid skills in this field. The training program will equip students with a solid foundation in the field of Mechatronics Technology along with confidence, dynamism, proficiency in English, and the capability of working in an active industrial environment or pursuing a research career after graduation.

2. PROGRAM CURRICULUM

The bachelor’s degree program in mechatronics engineering technology includes 1 foundation year of general and 2 years of specialization with 180 credits in total. The final internship in the last semester, which ranges from 3 to 6 months at institutes, research centers, and companies in Vietnam, France, and many other countries.

Studying a bachelor’s degree in mechatronics engineering technology, students are firstly equipped with the basic knowledge of Science and Technology in many different fields, from which to prepare a solid foundation for specialized knowledge in the field of mechatronics engineering technology such as electronics, design, algorithm and programming, automatic control, measurement, and intelligent control systems, embedded control systems, robotics, material strength, etc.

The training program is built in line with the practical needs of the labor market, through close links with research centers and businesses. Students learn the theory that incorporates practice in an international standard modern laboratory with a state-of-the-art equipment system. In addition, students are also trained in critical thinking, creativity, professional working styles and soft skills such as scientific presentations, methods of writing scientific reports, communication, and working. team, and leadership skills.

Students completing the Mechatronics Engineering Technology training program should be able to:

  1. Apply methods from physics, mathematics, and computer science to model systems in electrical and electronic engineering
  2. Use mathematical methods and tools to analyze and develop electrical and mechanical engineering systems

1. PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

The ICT formation in USTH prepares graduates for careers in the fields of Software Engineering and Computer Science. It focuses on applied research and emerging technologies. The ICT program equips students with the fundamental understanding of computing and system administration, then the professional knowledge of information systems, advanced databases, and eventually management of projects.

After graduation, ICT students process a solid foundation in mathematics, informatics, software engineering, and communication. They also have core knowledge of computer science for higher education. Additionally, students can specialize in particular areas such as mobile and web development, security and system, and data mining.

Besides, the formation aims to train them capable of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in an international environment; taking appropriate positions in the industry upon graduation and growing into leadership positions, and also pursuing scientific research or higher education.

2. PROGRAM CURRICULUM

The ICT curriculum provides a solid foundation in mathematics, informatics, software engineering, and communication. The program also builds a core of computer science for higher education. Additionally, students can specialize in particular areas such as mobile and web development, security and system, data mining, … etc by selecting the appropriate technical electives and completing the Group project and the internship for at least 3 months.

4. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The range of occupational ICT pathways continues to expand as ICT technology penetrates more and more aspects of daily life. Moreover, other science technologies currently require ICT as a tool for development. Common areas of work for ICT graduates include software engineering and programming for web and mobile platforms; systems analysis and administration; multimedia development and processing.      

Employment opportunities for ICT graduates are very strong due to the high demand in the industrial sector. The ICT industry did not succumb to the effects of the recent Global Financial Crisis as compared with many other sectors. Furthermore, many ICT start-up projects in Vietnam have received strong support and large investments from the government or national and international companies.

Besides the possibility of finding a job after graduation, ICT students have enough competencies to pursue higher education in Vietnamese universities or go abroad to study in high-quality international universities. The specialization in Computer Science in the ICT pathway gives the core based on which students can grow into specialized researchers.

1. INTRODUCTION

The bachelor’s program in Engineering Physics and Electronics at University of Science and Technology of Hanoi is opened to compensate for the shortage of technical human resources with a solid foundation in physics not only in electronics, solar cells, and automotive electronics industries but also relating to service fields such as big data processing, intelligent devices in Vietnam.

 The program aims to provide a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics and Electronics, with subjects that blend in a modern way between Mathematics, Physics, Electronics, and Informatics. Students can choose the majors that suit their abilities and the needs of the Vietnamese labor market.

The majors are designed in two main directions at the beginning: (i) Semiconductor and Electronics with smart electronics orientation, IC design as well as in the manufacturing of solar cells, LED, electronic industry, and (ii) optics and photonics to aim to the application of optical analyzers, light design …

Students will study theory combined with practice in modern labs and through field trips to companies. Besides, they will be equipped with soft skills such as presentation, teamwork, and critical thinking to actively expand their knowledge and adapt quickly to any international working environment. 

2. PROGRAM

 

The Bachelor’s Program in  Engineering Physics and Electronics includes 1 foundation year and 2 years of specialization with 180 credits. Students will take 3-6 months of internship at automobile companies and research institutes in Vietnam, France and many other countries.

1. PROGRAM MISSION

The current system of power generation and consumption worldwide is experiencing a critical transition. Besides having to meet the ever-growing demand for electricity, the need for reduction using fossil energy sources and greenhouse gas emissions is also prevalent at the same time. As such, the application of advanced and intelligent technological solutions in power generation improved electricity transmission and consumption efficiency, and the desire to search for new renewable energy sources to replace fossil sources (one of the leading causes of climate change) are crucial in meeting such requirements. Such demanding requirements come from the need to train talented and passionate engineers and young professionals with high levels of creativity, solid knowledge, and high skills in the power and energy segment.

University of Science and Technology of Hanoi is an ideal place where capable engineers and experts in the power and renewable energy are well-educated and trained, ready to meet the growing local, regional and global demand for human resources.

The program will equip students with basic knowledge in electrical power and technologies to make use of renewable energy for power generation. Students will also be rewarded with basic knowledge on the application of modern technologies in computers, telecommunication technologies, the Internet of Things and intelligent control in power generation, transmission, distribution, and energy management.

The curriculum provides a solid foundation such as electrical engineering, electronics, thermodynamics, heat, and mass transfer, etc., as well as in-depth technical knowledge of production and use of energy, especially the transmission, distribution, and use of electricity. Higher studies and research careers

 This Bachelor’s degree will entitle you to enroll in the “Master in Green Electricity and Bio Energy” at USTH or any of the master’s degree courses offered in the Electricity and Energy fields. The master’s program will provide students with in-depth knowledge of the specialized subject. In addition, we offer many opportunities for internships or higher studies in more than 40 universities and research institutions in France. Graduates will have a great chance to become advisors, teachers or researchers at one of our partners’ establishments. 

Business and industrial careers

By stating engineering as a principal programmatic focus, the career potential for graduates of USTH’s Energy program is promising. They will be suitable for jobs of technicians, consultants, analysts, etc. in most of the institutions related to the management, production, and use of energy, especially electricity. Students will be capable of designing and applying technologies and equipment to control, monitor, and manage energy systems.
