The Master’s Program in Applied Mathematics at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) has been launched in 2025. This program builds on the success of the previous International Master’s Program in Mathematics and is delivered entirely in English, following European standards. It aims to train high-quality professionals with a strong foundation in applied mathematics and practical problem-solving skills, preparing graduates to work in academic institutions, research centers, businesses, and organizations both in Vietnam and globally.
The lecturer’s of the program consists of professors and PhD from USTH and the Institute of Mathematics, which has extensive experience in running international graduate mathematics programs. Notably, the program also benefits from the participation of lecturers from international universities, through collaborations with the International Research Laboratory for Mathematics in Vietnam (IRL For Math Vietnam) – France, the International Centre for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) – France, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) – Italy, and the International Centre for Research and Training in Mathematics (ICRTM) under the Institute of Mathematics.
Students in the program are provided with a solid, modern, and in-depth curriculum covering major areas in applied mathematics such as probability and statistics, differential equations and numerical methods, optimization theory, discrete mathematics, as well as timely applied subjects like machine learning and financial mathematics. A wide range of attractive scholarships is available to students through USTH and the Institute of Mathematics. In addition, outstanding students have the opportunity to undertake internships abroad as part of their graduation requirements.

2. Eligibility
Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields and meet one of the following language proficiency requirements for admission:
- Obtaining a language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 4* promulgated in the six-level foreign language proficiency framework of Vietnam
- Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or a postgraduate qualification in English, or in a recognized training program using English as the main language of instruction,
- Having completed USTH’s English Intensive course.
* Conversion table of Foreign Language Degrees and Certificates equivalent to Level 4 of the six-level Foreign Language proficiency framework used in Vietnam for admissions and academic training at the Master’s level.

Notes:
- Applicants who have completed their Bachelor’s programs but not yet received their diplomas must submit their academic transcripts or temporary graduation certificates (copies and English translated versions).
- Applicants who are in the last year of Bachelor’s programs must submit the most updated academic transcripts and a confirmation letter on expected graduating time (copies and English translation).
- International students must prove the ability to pay for tuition fees and living expenses by providing their Bank Statement or their parent’s Bank Statement with $8,000 in the account as the minimum balance.
- Candidates pay application fees according to the instructions in section 7.
