Admissions Announcement for master degree programs in 2025

1. General information

Established under the Inter-governmental Agreement between Vietnam and France in 2009, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) also called Vietnam France University has built a reputation as an advanced-model international public university.

USTH offers five joint Master’s degree programs in science and technology and one international-standard regular program. Students enrolled in a joint Master’s degree program will be registered both at the USTH and a French higher education institution of the Association of French Universities and Research Organizations for the Development of USTH. Upon graduation, students will be granted two Master’s degrees, one from USTH and one from a French education institution. Students graduated from the regular program will be granted one Master’s degree by the USTH.

Enrollment target: 120 full-time Master’s students.

3. Joint Master’s degree programs with the French educational institutions

​​Since 2009, the joint Master’s degree programs with French partners has consistently demonstrated its excellence, offering international-standard postgraduate training opportunities to a wide range of students not only in Vietnam but also in many other countries around the world. Annually, USTH welcomes nearly 100 students from Europe to participate in the Master’s programs (full time and exchange study). More than 50% of Master’s students undertake six-month internships in countries such as France, Germany, Canada, Japan. 100% of students interning in France receive a salary.

4. Eligibility

Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields and meet one of the following language proficiency requirements for admission:

• Obtaining a language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 4* promulgated in the six-level foreign language proficiency framework of Vietnam
• Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or a postgraduate qualification in English, or in a recognized training program using English as the main language of instruction,
• Having completed USTH’s English Intensive course.

Citizens belonging to one of the following categories may be considered by the Admissions Committee to be admitted to a second year Master’s program (M2):

1. Candidates who have completed the first year of Master’s program (M1) at local or international foreign universities following the Bologna process or have completed 240 ECTS-European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, and pass the application review process.
2. Candidates who have obtained Engineering degrees from institutions accredited by CTI/PFIEV, or from other educational institutions recognized by authorities, and must be approved by the Admissions Committee.
3. Candidates who have obtained a four-year Bachelor’s degree ranked Good or higher, recognized by the French government as equivalent to the first 60 ECTS after obtaining a Bachelor degree, can pass the application review process, and must be approved by the Admissions Committee with the decision of Rector.

* Conversion table of Foreign Language Degrees and Certificates equivalent to Level 4 of the six-level Foreign Language proficiency framework used in Vietnam for admissions and academic training at Master’s level.

Notes:

• Applicants who have completed their Bachelor’s programs but not yet received their diplomas must submit their academic transcripts or temporary graduation certificates (copies and English translated versions).
• Applicants who are in the last year of Bachelor’s programs must submit  the most updated academic transcripts and a confirmation letter on expected graduating time (copies and English translation). Applicants who are exchange students must provide at least their transcripts of two most recent semesters.
• International students must prove the ability to pay for tuition fees and living expenses by providing their Bank Statement or their parent’s Bank Statement with $10,000 in the account as the minimum balance.
• Candidates pay application fees according to the instructions in section 8.

8. Scholarships and fellowships
