The lecturer’s of the program consists of professors and PhD from USTH and the Institute of Mathematics, which has extensive experience in running international graduate mathematics programs. Notably, the program also benefits from the participation of lecturers from international universities, through collaborations with the International Research Laboratory for Mathematics in Vietnam (IRL For Math Vietnam) – France, the International Centre for Pure and Applied Mathematics (CIMPA) – France, the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) – Italy, and the International Centre for Research and Training in Mathematics (ICRTM) under the Institute of Mathematics.

1. OVERVIEW

Food safety (FS) has been and continues to be a pressing public health issue worldwide. In Vietnam, concerns related to the quality control of agricultural and food products, as well as food safety assurance, have received attention and guidance from central to local authorities. These issues have been frequently discussed in scientific conferences and covered by the media in recent years.

Recently, Directive No. 17-CT/TW, issued on October 21, 2022, by the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, emphasized strengthening food security and safety in the new context. It calls for the enhancement of high-quality human resources in food science and technology, particularly in inspection, management, quality assurance, and food security.

In response to this, USTH’s Master’s program in Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) is designed with a modern curriculum that provides a strong academic and professional foundation. Established under the Inter-governmental Agreement between Vietnam and France in 2009, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) also called Vietnam France University has built a reputation as an advanced-model international public university.

USTH offers five joint Master’s degree programs in science and technology and one international-standard regular program. Students enrolled in a joint Master’s degree program will be registered both at the USTH and a French higher education institution of the Association of French Universities and Research Organizations for the Development of USTH. 2. Training Programs

2.1. Regular programs at USTH

USTH offers undergraduate programs in science and technology following the European Bologna Process. The standard duration of a Bachelor’s degree program is 3 years (equivalent to 180 ECTS), with all courses taught in English. For the Maintenance Engineering B1/B2 orientation (Aeronautical Engineering), the duration is 4 years, including 10 months of study and practical training at VAECO, Vietnam Airlines. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s degree.

The duration of training for the Pharmacy program is 5 years, with 70% of the courses taught in English and 30% in Vietnamese. Graduates are awarded a Pharmacist degree.

For candidates who meet the admission requirements but do not meet the English entry requirements, the study program includes an additional year focused on enhancing English skills (not applicable to the Pharmacy program).

2.2 Double degree programs 

Since 2022, USTH has cooperated with our partners in France to deploy double-degree programs. Students admitted to the double degree programs will spend their first two years at USTH and have a chance to study their third year in a French institution. Upon graduation, students will be granted two Bachelor’s degrees, one by the USTH and one by a French institution.

– Candidates participate in the international Olympic team selection exam; candidates are official members of the national team participating in the international contest on subjects of natural sciences, international science and engineering contest teams (projects related to natural sciences).

(8) Direct admission for the Aeronautical Engineering program is only applied to students with prizes in Mathematics, Physics and Informatics. Direct admission for the Pharmacy program is only applied to students with prizes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology. Geography is only applied for candidates of Space science and Satellite Technology specialty.

(9) Foreign applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the English language (IELTS score of 5.0 or higher, or other equivalent certificates) to ensure successful academic engagement at USTH. For the Pharmacy program, in addition to English proficiency, applicants are required to attain the necessary results in the  proficiency test of the Vietnamese language, in accordance with the current regulations established by the MOET.

Remarks:

In case the number of qualified candidates exceeds the enrollment quota, admissions criteria based on the order of applicants’ aspiration registered on the general enrollment support system of the Ministry of Education and Training will be applied to recognize admitted majors.

*For applicants who graduated from 2015 to 2024: besides the admission conditions, they must ensure the attendance in the High school graduation Exam with a combination of suitable exam subjects for the applied program (Annex 2 – Admissions Announcement) and achieved results equal to or higher than the entrance mark of USTH in that year.

Remarks:

If the grading system is different from the 0-10 scale applied in Vietnam, a document by competent authorities explaining the applied grading system is required.

In collaboration with prestigious universities in France, USTH offers a double Bachelor’s degree program in Biotechnology – Drug discovery, which presents many advantages, including offering two well-recognized degrees, a solid foundation of specialized knowledge, a high level of English proficiency, and opportunities for early exposure to international learning environments in Vietnam and France.

1. PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program is designed to train a new generation of young scientists with robust scientific ethics, profound expertise, adept language skills, pragmatic know-how, critical thinking acumen, and invaluable soft skills. Moreover, it equips them with the ability to address the evolving demands of both the biotechnology and drug discovery domains, while seamlessly navigating the intricacies of global learning and professional environments.

The comprehensive curriculum of the training program consists of a total of 180 ECTS. During the initial two years, students will be taught by the USTH lecturers, all of whom hold PhD degrees. In the final year, students will be transferred to a French partner university. Teaching language	Phase 1 (first 2 years studying at USTH): English. The graduation thesis is written and defended in English. Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields and meet one of the following language proficiency requirements for admission:

• Obtaining a language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 4* promulgated in the six-level foreign language proficiency framework of Vietnam
•  Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or a postgraduate qualification in English, or in a recognized training program using English as the main language of instruction, 
• Having completed USTH’s English Intensive course.

* Conversion table of Foreign Language Degrees and Certificates equivalent to Level 4 of the six-level Foreign Language proficiency framework used in Vietnam for admissions and academic training at the Master’s level.

• International students must prove the ability to pay for tuition fees and living expenses by providing their Bank Statement or their parent’s Bank Statement with $8,000 in the account as the minimum balance.

ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST 2024

(BACHELOR’S PROGRAMS – INTAKE 15)

In order to assess candidates’ English proficiency for placing candidates into suitable programs (3-year/4-year for Bachelor programs) and placing in classes according to proficiency level  (4-year programs), University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) organizes the English Placement Test for admitted candidates, who applying for academic year 2024-2025. 

1. Test takers:

– Candidates who have submitted application dossiers for admission to the USTH  (wave 1 and/or wave 2), received qualifying results for admission, have not obtained an IELTS certificate of 5.0 or higher  or TOEFL iBT certificate of 35 or higher, and wish to study at the USTH.

2. Conditions for exemption from Placement Test:

Candidates are exempted from taking the test when they meet the following conditions: Have an IELTS English Certificate of 5.0 or higher (or TOEFL iBT 35 or higher) within 02 years and 03 months from the date of the test.

Other cases will be considered and decided by the USTH Admissions Committee.

3. Program/class placement:

Based on the test results,candidates are placed into programs/classes according to their English level, specifically:

– Candidates, whose test score are less than 4.5 (IELTS band score), will be accepted to the 4-year program.

– Candidates, whose test score are equivalent to IELTS 4.5, are encouraged to participate in the Summer English Course and are required to take English Placement Test 2 (tentative date is to be announced).

– Candidates, whose test results are equivalent to IELTS 5.0 or higher, will be accepted to the 3-year program.

4. Test schedule and result announcement:

– English Placement Test 1: 10/07/2024 (each candidate ONLY takes 01 session either in the morning or in the afternoon, as announced in the list and agenda sent via email).

– English Placement Test 2: to be announced

– Candidates are required to be present at the test location 30 minutes before the start of the exam (the specific time is in the Exam Notice sent via email)

– Candidates must show one of their identity documents with photo: ID card, citizen identification, passport, driving license). 

– Test result announcement: Candidates will be notified of the test results within 5 days after the test with a notice of registration for the Summer English course.

5. Test format:

The English language proficiency test has the same structure as the IELTS test:

– 04 skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

– Total time for the three skills Listening, Reading and Writing: about 150 minutes.

– Time for Speaking test: no more than 12 minutes/candidate

Established under the Inter-governmental Agreement between Vietnam and France in 2009, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH) also called Vietnam France University has built a reputation as an advanced-model international public university.

Students enrolled in the joint Master’s degree program will be registered at a French higher education institution of the Association of French Universities and Research Organizations for the Development of USTH. Upon graduation, students will be granted two Master’s degrees, one by the USTH and one by a French education institution.

Enrollment target: 120 full-time Master’s students for the academic year 2024-2025.

2. Training programs

USTH offers 05 high-quality programs in science and technology with English as the official language used in teaching and learning. 

3. Eligibility

Vietnamese citizens and foreigners who hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields and meet one of the following language proficiency requirements for admission:

• Obtaining a language proficiency certificate equivalent to level 4* promulgated in the six-level foreign language proficiency framework of Vietnam
•  Obtaining a Bachelor’s degree or a postgraduate qualification in English or in a recognized training program using English as the main language of instruction, 
• Having completed USTH’s English Intensive course.

Citizens belonging to one of the following categories may be considered by the Admissions Committee to be admitted to a second year Master’s program (M2):

• Candidates who have completed the first year of Master’s program (M1) at local or international foreign universities following the Bologna process, i.e. have obtained a diploma Maitrise in France or have completed 240 ECTS-European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, and pass the application review process.
• Candidates who have obtained Engineering degrees from institutions accredited by CTI/PFIEV, or from other educational institutions recognized by authorities, and must be approved by the Admissions Committee.
• Candidates who have obtained a four-year Bachelor’s degree ranked Good or higher, recognized by the French government as equivalent to the first 60 ECTS after obtaining a Bachelor degree, can pass the application review process, and must be approved by the Admissions Committee with the decision of Rector.
